Must-Haves for Papercraft

C B

I seem to have a lot of craft supplies in my little corner of the house. There are so many different things that you can buy to make your crafting easy and effortless…

In this post I will outline some starting items that you will need to consider adding to your craft stash.

Tools

There are so many different tools that can be used for paper craft – you definitely don’t need to buy everything, but these are some of the tools that I have found to be useful.

Scissors in many sizes are lifesavers! One pair just isn’t enough for me… I think I currently have about 4 different sizes that I use all the time for all different things. I have a teeny tiny pair for the small jobs and larger pairs for bigger jobs. You can get great scissors anywhere; the best pair I own for instance are from a discount store.

I also LOVE my mini guillotine and would not be without it. I personally find that the guillotines cut straighter lines than the lift-edge trimmers and the blades don’t dull as quickly, making your cutting jobs that much quicker and smoother long-term.

Tweezers are super handy in putting on the finer details and finishing touches. I am addicted to getting my nails done, but sometimes they get in the way, especially when I am using small detailed stickers. Tweezers just seem to make everything much easier to handle, especially when it’s a sticky job.

Adhesives

As with tools, there are many forms of adhesives, depending on what project you are completing. If you are handling photos, your best bet is a form of sticky dot or tape that is ACID FREE (these are pH neutral) and will make your images last longer. More information about acid free adhesives can be found here.

I particularly like to use tapes because they come in different widths (and some are super strong stick), are easy to cut to size and use. I wouldn’t recommend liquid adhesives, unless you are doing project relating to wood or heavy duty card as these can make your papers bubble and wet them a little too much.

Decorative Elements

You will need papers, stickers, tags, decorations and anything your heart desires to add to projects. My current favourite decorative items at the moment are notecards and collectibles. Kaisercraft collectibles are my favourite because they have so many to choose from at a reasonable price.

There are so many assets that can strike fabulous ideas. I suggest scrolling a few online stores or going shopping (e.g. Spotlight, SHEIN, and as I have mentioned before, Kaisercraft). Have a look and see what catches your eye.

Space & Storage

This is one thing that some may forget about… You do need to have available space to store your bits and bobs. There are some really brilliant ideas for storage solutions all over Pinterest, you will find yourself running to Kmart to buy storage boxes and units just to make everything look amazing (…that in itself is a hobby)

These are just some of the things to consider adding to your craft stash. I hope this has been able to give some insight on some of the things that I find I would be lost without while I undertake my projects.
